This particular gate stands 7′ tall and over 13′ wide, featuring a satin black and lightly textured powder coating. The stone columns are 32″ square and built around filled concrete block surrounding steel center posts. The gate opens outward because of the steep grade. The owners may experiment with some decorative adornments placed upon the tops of the columns. Additional plantings are being added to the areas in front of the columns and should compliment the coloring in the stone work quite nicely in the near future.

This is a simple manual entry gate I just completed for a customer in my area. He plans on adding automation at a later date. The entry gate and hinge posts are constructed entirely of mild steel and has been powder coated for longevity.

I recently completed three sketches for a client whom had requested
a small garden or courtyard gate with a frog theme. The gate will be attached to the pergola, as seen in the photo below.
You can view the other designs and descriptions here:Frog Gate Designs

I “inherited” this particular solar gate installation a couple of years ago. It was ridden with problems from the onset. The original installer did not size the solar system correctly, given the amount of traffic the gate sees on an average day. Nor did he did he perform any other aspect of the installation correctly, but that is another story…
I recently endeavored to upgrade the gate’s solar system and you may follow along here:Solar Gate Upgrade

I have completed my most recent commission for a private collector. The Crane was delivered to its new home late yesterday, where it was greeted with overwhelming approval and expressions of gratitude and joy! Whew!
For those interested in how the Crane evolved, you can view the complete process here: Crane Metal Sculpture

OK, so this may have nothing to do with gates or metal sculpture; but now and then, I may post something here that strikes me as funny, outrageous or useful in some way. Now, is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture? Maybe he has just lost his marbles, literally…
